How to enrol

Please contact our office on 07 4132 6111 to arrange for an enrolment interview with our Principal.  An enrolment pack will be distributed at the interview which needs to be completed and returned to the office.

Bundaberg East no longer has an Enrolment Management Plan.

It is important to note that applications for enrolment will be accepted from day one of term one of the beginning of the year prior to beginning prep. Education Queensland's Prep ready reckoner is a tool you can use to determine when your child can begin prep.

Prep: Warm Welcome...

Thank you for investing in your child's academic success, with our dedicated and caring staff, here at Bundaberg East State School. Our Prep Transition Program has three important stages to ensure your child has a smooth and stress free as possible step up into Prep.

Stage One: Enrolment Interview

During Term 2, April to June, is the time to enrol your child in the Prep year. Enrolment forms are available at the office and on our school website. Once completed, our Principal, Leanne McNamara, will meet with you and your child.

Knowing your child and your family early, enables us to plan a successful transition from Kindy to Prep. It is important to let your child's Kindy know where your child is enrolled for Prep and give them permission to talk with Bundaberg East staff about your child. Throughout July to September, our lovely staff will be visiting and communicating with the Kindy centres and getting to know your child.

Included in your welcome pack is a "Welcome to Prep" book for you to read nightly with your child about starting school.

Stage Two: Orientation Activities

We hope you will attend our "Meet and Greet" session on Wednesday 2nd August from 3:00pm to 4:00pm for your child to get to know other Prep students and staff. It is an informal afternoon held in the Prep playground. It is a great opportunity for friendships to blossom and for families to establish potential "play dates".

Stage Three: Transition Program

Our Transition Program is highly effective. Students can participate in all or some of the 8 x 1 hour sessions every Wednesday 9:30am to 10:30am from October 4th to 22nd November. Parents also participate in the program and become familiar with regular routines.

The program culminates in our Prep Orientation Session on Wednesday 29th November. This session starts 9:00am to 10:30am and is the first session without parents. Our Principal conducts an information session for parents at this time.

We know this program makes your child's next step into "big school" smooth, seamless and will have your child filled with confidence and excitement about the adventures that await.
